The short version
Mood Check-In does not require an account. Your mood entries, emotions, influences, journal notes, and reflection preferences are stored locally in the app and are not uploaded to us. The app uses Apple and RevenueCat for purchases. Some free website tools can save entries in your browser's local storage, but do not upload those entries to us. This website does not run client-side analytics; it uses Vercel hosting and Cloudflare domain and DNS services.
1. Scope
This policy applies to the Mood Check-In mobile app and the website at www.moodcheckin.app. Other services you choose to use, including Apple, RevenueCat, Vercel, and Cloudflare, have their own privacy terms.
2. Information stored locally by the app
The app may store the following information on your device:
- mood check-ins, including mood, selected emotions and influences, an optional note, date, and time;
- your daily check-in goal, mood-display choice, favorite tags, and appearance preference;
- onboarding choices, including check-in style, reflection focus, common influences, baseline mood, and preferred rhythm;
- reminder settings, including whether reminders are enabled, their active hours, and interval; and
- onboarding and paywall-state records needed to open the correct app screen.
This information is used to provide your journal, history, summaries, personalized prompts, settings, and reminders. It is not sent to Mood Check-In servers, this website, or RevenueCat.
3. Purchases and RevenueCat
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Mood Check-In uses RevenueCat to retrieve available plans, validate purchases, determine whether paid access is active, and restore purchases.
The app does not create a named Mood Check-In account. RevenueCat generates a random anonymous app user identifier when its service is configured. RevenueCat may process that identifier, device and operating-system information, app and storefront information, last-seen activity, product and entitlement status, transaction history, and Apple receipt information. This supports app functionality, purchase validation, fraud prevention, purchase analytics, and support.
Mood entries, emotions, influences, and journal notes are not sent to RevenueCat. RevenueCat's processing is described in its privacy policy.
4. Notifications
Check-in reminders are optional. The app requests notification permission only when you enable and save reminders. It schedules repeating notifications locally on your device during the hours and interval you choose.
The current app does not request a push-notification token or upload your reminder schedule. Turning reminders off cancels Mood Check-In's scheduled notifications. Device-wide notification permission remains under your control in system settings.
5. Free website tools and browser storage
The free tools on this website run in your browser. The mood tracker, mood calendar, and mood-and-activity tracker can use local browser storage on your current device to remember the moods, activities, dates, times, and optional notes you enter. Mood Check-In does not receive or upload that content.
The feelings wheel and journal prompt generator keep the current selection only while you use the page. The printable tracker is generated locally from the month and display choices you make. Printing or saving a PDF is handled by your browser and operating system.
You can remove saved tool entries with the controls provided in the relevant tool or by clearing site data for moodcheckin.app in your browser. Private-browsing modes, storage restrictions, switching browsers, or clearing site data may remove entries, and we cannot recover content that was never sent to us.
6. Website measurement
This website does not currently load a client-side analytics or advertising tracker. Its hosting and domain providers may keep ordinary request and security logs as described below. We do not receive mood-journal content or information entered in the mobile app through the website.
7. Hosting and domain services
The website is hosted by Vercel. Vercel may process ordinary request and security information, such as an IP address, requested URL, browser or device information, headers, and request time, to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot the site.
The moodcheckin.app domain is registered and its DNS is managed through Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes the technical information needed to provide those services and, if its proxy or security services are enabled, may also process website traffic information such as IP addresses and routing metadata. Neither provider receives the contents of the journal stored in the app.
8. Support messages
If you email support@moodcheckin.app, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to send. We use them to understand, respond to, and maintain a record of your request. Please remove journal text, health information, or other sensitive details that are not needed for support.
9. Sharing and sale
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not use mood-journal information for advertising. We disclose information only to service providers needed to operate the app and website, when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate protections.
10. Retention and deletion
Local app data remains until you edit or delete it, use the delete-all control, remove the app, or it is otherwise affected by your device and backup settings.
Website tool data stored in your browser remains until you delete it with a tool control, clear site data, or your browser removes it. Session-only selections ordinarily disappear when the page or browsing session is closed.
The delete-all control removes the local journal, notes, favorite tags, goal, onboarding profile, and reminder settings, and cancels Mood Check-In's scheduled notifications. It does not revoke system notification permission, cancel an App Store subscription, or erase transaction records maintained by Apple or RevenueCat.
Hosting and security logs, purchase records, and support messages are retained under the applicable provider's policies and for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here or required by law.
11. Device backups
Apple and your device settings control whether app data is included in device backups. Mood Check-In does not operate its own journal backup or cross-device sync service.
12. Children
Mood Check-In is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children through the website or support inbox. Local journal entries are not collected by us.
13. Your choices and rights
You can edit or delete entries, disable reminders, change notification permission in system settings, and remove local data from within the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights concerning information processed through hosting, support, or purchases. Contact support@moodcheckin.app to ask a privacy question or make a request. We may need enough information to verify and locate the relevant record.
14. Changes
We may update this policy as Mood Check-In develops. We will publish the revised policy and its updated date here before materially different practices take effect.
15. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent to support@moodcheckin.app.
